Cohen's Kick Off!

So Cohen's starts........... now.

I've had the blood test, I've been given my program. I've prepared my kitchen with all the foods I am allowed to eat and invested in a new scale to accurately measure. On Cohen's, I am allowed to have Coke Zero etc, but I also need to drink between 2-3L of water, so decided that I want to cut back as I have been drinking way too much diet drinks lately.  I have spent the past week cutting down my caffeine intake so that once I go into Cohen's Beast Mode and start detoxing from junk, I won't also have to detox from caffeine. I am surviving on one can of CZ a day, and at the moment I am happy with that. Will see if I can cut it down to one can every other day once I get my head around Cohen's. As I have been cutting down the CZ, I have been able to up my water intake which is a big win. Hopefully if I keep it up, that will be a habit I form.

Over the past two days I have stuck to the plan for breakfast and lunch to ease my way into it, and have been sticking to the 5 hour rule between meals, and tomorrow I plan on starting for reals and feel good about it. I know it is going to be hard while I am on the diet to lose weight, but I have overindulged myself for pretty much my whole life, so I realise its not going to be an easy fix thing to change all those habits and by saying no to myself (and others), so will have to suck it up I guess.

Broken Promises

Well, that rather didn't go as planned.

Did the Jenny Craig thing for a good 4 months. Didn't really loose any significant weight. Maybe 5-6kilos. I found it was quite expensive each week and I wasn't really motivated. I was only sticking to 5 full days a week of JC and I didn't lose as much as I thought I would have. Christmas came and went and I chucked it in.

Next came the Michelle Bridges 12wbt. Well, thats a lie. I signed up, but pretty much didn't follow any of it at all. I did however print off all the meal plans, recipes and exercise programs for another time. During this time, I was exercising like a motherfucker though, and this made me SO GODDAMNED HUNGRY. I wasn't just hungry, I was HANGRY. Awful. Had the choice of either going to bed hungry with my a growling tummy, or eating everything in the house. I did a little bit of both.

Then I decided to try a no flour, no sugar philosophy. I actually found this worked really well for my wellbeing. By cutting out bread, pasta and all the other shit, I felt a lot less bloated and just felt better. Dropped a few kilo by sticking to this for quite a few weeks, but then I went on a camping trip and junk food was on the menu, and by just eating a little bit of this and that over the weekend, I put back on everything I lost and more. Shit. So then I ate more junk in protest, and here I am back to square one, 2.5months before I turn 30. Fuck. What's a girl to do????

COHENS.

This is the new fad for me. I am doing Cohen's. Or as my beloved calls it....THE SCIENCE DIET. He was the one that suggested it to me, as he does know I do love me some science. I went on their website and checked it out, they make amazing claims about losing a shitload of weight relatively quickly. Is it sustainable? Who cares, I feel that I need magical results initially to stay motivated, so why not give it a try.
Went to an info session which they make you do before you sign up and I'm not gonna lie....It feels a bit cult-ish.

The meeting is a skinny person showing you pictures of how they used to be fat, did Cohens, kept the weight off etc etc. They goes over the outline of what to expect and some of the things you can and can't eat. They discuss the 'science' part of the diet. They brush over "Dr Cohen" a bit and claim that once you have your blood test the good doctor himself (their actual words) gets your results and formulates your "prescription" and then the people in the clinic pass this on to you. One thing I must say I was impressed with, and it changed my cynicism about the info session was how upfront they were about cost. They didn't gloss over it, it was all very clear which I found very refreshing.  LEADER!!!!! Sign me up.
